The Academy Times is the student news publication of the Upper School at Charles Wright Academy. Founded in 1988, the AT has been published as a tabloid newspaper, a newsmagazine, and since Jan. 2010 an online Web site.

The Academy Times is a public forum for student expression and as such its student staff is solely responsible for its contents. Unsigned editorials reflect the opinion of the publication’s staff. Letters to the editor and blog replies to posted articles are always welcome.

Charles Wright, founded in 1957, is a non-denominational, coed, independent day school in Tacoma, Wash. Its Upper School has 291 students.

The Academy Times is a member of the National Scholastic Press Association and the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Its adviser is a member of the Journalism Education Association and the Washington Journalism Education Association. The publication has received three National Pacemaker Awards from NSPA and three Gold Crown Awards from CSPA. In 2008 the publication was inducted into NSPA’s Hall of Fame.
